If you have a small site, you probably don’t have the time or resources to  focus on SEO link popularity. However, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be  thinking of it. Where a lot of people go wrong is that they get caught up with  all the “tricks” for increasing SEO link popularity when they should really be  asking, “Is my site link worthy?”    Take a step back from your site and objectively look at it. Then, ask yourself  why someone might link to you site and who that webmaster might be (what type  of website he/she runs). If you already have a decent amount of SEO link  popularity, you will want to analyze these links to see where they are coming  from. There are many tools that will help you understand your SEO link  popularity.

For webmasters who are trying to take their sites to the next level or have a  very competitive niche, you will have to do some work to increase SEO link  popularity. Your competition is probably using some SEO link techniques and you  won’t want to fall behind. There are a lot of free places to get backlinks such  as article submissions, guest blog writing, and social bookmarking. However,  “free” doesn’t include all the time you may end up spending on building up SEO  link popularity.

Before wasting time on tricks to build SEO link popularity, you should always  think how the tactic will help you in the long run. A good link building  campaign will eventually start to run itself: if you have lots of backlinks,  you will get more traffic. With more traffic, other webmasters will be able to  find the valuable information your site provides. Then, your SEO link  popularity will increase as they give you natural backlinks.
