Internet marketing has changed the world of advertising like no other
medium did (except perhaps TV). It has grown in popularity and
importance ever since people came to realize the great potential
internet has for advertising their products. The advantages of
internet marketing are many and only a few will be mentioned here.
The main and the most important advantage is that internet marketing
costs significantly, almost ridiculously less than any other
conventional type of advertising, especially television marketing that
has become so costly only the biggest players can do it properly.
Also, the potential customer can immediately act upon seeing the
advertisement by further researching the product or even by
immediately purchasing it. For those who employ internet advertising
agencies, it is very convenient that they can almost instantly see the
efficiency of a certain marketing strategy as keeping statistics of
online traffic is very easy. It can also be an invaluable help in
deciding if a marketing strategy is efficient enough. Furthermore, the
internet marketing allows the advertiser to target specific groups of
customers, depending on their preferences, age, geographical location
or any of the other factors that are important when targeting
customers.
On the other hand, internet marketing has its disadvantages, but the
way things are going, these disadvantages will only lose on their
prominence. The first disadvantage is that internet marketing is only
possible if people are actually using the internet. However, as more
and more people start to go online every day, this disadvantage can be
seen as something that will virtually disappear in the future. There
is also a problem of low-band connections that can render some
over-designed advertising pages almost useless, but again, it is a
problem that is going to disappear one day.
All in all, advantages outweigh disadvantages manifold.
